GPR3 also known as G protein-coupled receptor 3 is a member of the GPCR family. This receptor weighs approximately 37 kDa and exists in the cell plasma membrane where it triggers intracellular signaling pathways by interacting with G proteins. Expressed widely in the central nervous system GPR3 plays a mechanical role by activating adenylate cyclase and increasing cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels without any ligand binding a unique characteristic of this receptor.
