Biological function summary
The H4 receptor plays a significant role in the regulation of immune cell chemotaxis and cytokine release following histamine activation. It does not form part of a larger receptor complex yet it is instrumental in immune system modulation. Its activity affects the migration of eosinophils and mast cells influencing inflammatory responses.
Pathways
The histamine H4 receptor is highly involved in the histamine signaling pathway and the immune response pathway. These pathways modulate various physiological functions and responses to allergens. Within these pathways H4R interacts with proteins such as the histamine H1 and H2 receptors which also mediate histamine-related responses across different tissues.
