KRT35 also known as Keratin 35 is a type I keratin protein. As a structural protein with a mass of around 44 kDa KRT35 is primarily found in the hair shaft cortex where it aids in maintaining the integrity of hair. The protein belongs to the broader keratin family which includes many other keratins classified by acidic or basic nature. KRT35 is expressed mainly in hair follicle cells and relates to the cytoskeleton serving as an important component that supports cellular structure.
Biological function summary

KRT35 contributes to the mechanical stability and resilience of hair by forming intermediate filaments which are part of the hair's structural matrix. The protein interacts within a complex network of type I and type II keratins enabling a robust structural framework necessary for healthy hair development.
