추가 정보

The protein MCM-BP also known as Minichromosome Maintenance Binding Protein functions as a modulator in DNA replication. This protein works by interacting with MCM complexes to regulate their activity. MCM-BP has a molecular mass of approximately 97 kDa and is expressed in several human tissues with high levels observed in proliferating cells such as those in the liver and testes. This indicates its important role in cell replication processes.
Biological function summary

The MCM-BP protein plays a role in overseeing DNA synthesis ensuring that genetic material duplicates correctly during cell division. It forms part of the DNA replication licensing complex interacting with components of the MCM complex to unload them from DNA after replication initiation. By regulating these complexes MCM-BP helps maintain the integrity and fidelity of the replication process. The protein aids in preventing genome instability which is critical for normal cellular function.

Pathways

One can understand the involvement of MCM-BP in the DNA replication pathway and the cell cycle regulation pathway. It interacts closely with proteins in the Minichromosome Maintenance (MCM) complex specifically with the helicase activity important for DNA unwinding during replication. By controlling MCM complex disassembly MCM-BP ensures the proper progression and completion of the replication process linking it to an orderly passage through the cell cycle phases.

MCM-BP has associations with certain cancers and genomic instability disorders. Its dysregulation can lead to improper DNA replication resulting in mutations and an increased risk of tumor development. For example in some cancers abnormal MCM-BP activity is observed contributing to the unchecked proliferation of cancer cells. Additionally its connection with proteins like p53 highlights its relevance in pathways that when faltered contribute to oncogenesis and other replication-related disorders.

타겟 정보

Associated component of the MCM complex that acts as a regulator of DNA replication. Binds to the MCM complex during late S phase and promotes the disassembly of the MCM complex from chromatin, thereby acting as a key regulator of pre-replication complex (pre-RC) unloading from replicated DNA. Can dissociate the MCM complex without addition of ATP; probably acts by destabilizing interactions of each individual subunits of the MCM complex. Required for sister chromatid cohesion.
