MPC2 also known as Mitochondrial Pyruvate Carrier 2 is a protein that resides in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It functions as part of a carrier complex that imports pyruvate into mitochondria. The protein has a molecular mass of approximately 15 kDa. MPC2 is expressed in various tissues with high expression observed in metabolically active tissues like muscle and liver where it plays an important role in cellular energy metabolism.
