추가 정보

MYO16 also known as Myosin XVI is a member of the myosin superfamily of actin-based motor proteins. It weighs approximately 200 kDa. This protein exhibits ATPase activity and plays a role in intracellular transport and cell motility. MYO16 expresses predominantly in the brain but can also be found in other tissues. This expression pattern suggests it has significant functions in neural cells.
Biological function summary

Myosin XVI functions extend to maintaining cellular architecture and facilitating signal transduction processes. MYO16 might interact with various cytoskeletal components contributing to structural dynamics within cells. MYO16 may co-localize with specific proteins to form complexes influencing its functional role in neuronal pathways and affecting cellular responses.

Pathways

MYO16 integrates into signaling networks involving actin dynamics and cellular motility. It holds a potential role in pathways such as the Wnt signaling pathway and may interact with proteins like beta-catenin which are essential in cellular growth and differentiation. The interaction with cellular components highlights its involvement in modulating neuronal circuitry and connectivity.

MYO16 links with neurological conditions such as schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders. Researchers continue to explore how MYO16 influences these diseases potentially through its interaction with proteins like DISC1 (Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1). Understanding MYO16's role in these disorders could provide potential insights into their underlying mechanisms.

타겟 정보

Myosins are actin-based motor molecules with ATPase activity. Unconventional myosins serve in intracellular movements. Their highly divergent tails are presumed to bind to membranous compartments, which would be moved relative to actin filaments. May be involved in targeting of the catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 1 during brain development. Activates PI3K and concomitantly recruits the WAVE1 complex to the close vicinity of PI3K and regulates neuronal morphogenesis (By similarity).
