Biological function summary
MYO9B modulates the dynamics of the actin cytoskeleton influencing cell movement and polarity. This myosin acts as a molecular motor converting chemical energy into mechanical work driving intracellular transport and signaling processes. It also contains a Rho GTPase-activating protein (RhoGAP) domain implicating it in the regulation of Rho family GTPases which are pivotal for actin organization. MYO9B does not function alone but interacts with other proteins within molecular complexes to maintain cellular integrity.
Pathways
MYO9B participates in signaling cascades that control cytoskeleton rearrangement and cellular adhesion. Notably MYO9B plays roles in the RhoA signaling pathway essential for actin-myosin organization and cellular contraction.
