Biological function summary
The protein functions as a subunit of a nonselective ion channel complex that contributes to sensory functions. PKD1L3 together with PKD2L1 forms ion channels that respond to environmental changes including pH alterations. This tetrameric channel complex plays a role in taste perception and is known to mediate sour taste reception in taste cells.
