RPL18 also known as Ribosomal Protein L18 is a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit. It possesses a molecular weight of approximately 22 kDa. RPL18 is highly expressed in various tissues including the liver brain and pancreas. The protein plays an important role in protein synthesis by aiding in the assembly and function of ribosomes essential cellular machinery for translating mRNA into polypeptides.
Biological function summary

RPL18 functions as part of the ribosomal complex facilitating mRNA translation into proteins. This protein is integral to the structure of the ribosome which serves as the platform for accurate peptide bond formation between amino acids.
