Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence analysis of A549 (human lung carcinoma) labelling SCGB3A2 with purified ab181853 at 1/500. Cells were fixed with 100% methanol. An Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (1/1000) was used as the secondary antibody (ab150077). Nuclei counterstained with DAPI (blue).

Control : PBS only

This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab181853).

ab240255 is the carrier-free version of ab181853.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

SCGB3A2 also recognized as uteroglobin-related protein 1 (UGRP1) is a small secreted protein with a molecular mass around 10 kDa. It is mainly expressed in the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract notably the lungs where it plays a role in modulating immune responses. In terms of structure SCGB3A2 shares similarities with other secretoglobin family members indicating conserved functional motifs. Its expression is tightly regulated and reflects its involvement in maintaining respiratory health.
Biological function summary

SCGB3A2 acts as an anti-inflammatory agent that modulates immune cell activity and cytokine signaling within the lungs. It does not form known protein complexes but interacts with other immune mediators to reduce inflammation. Furthermore SCGB3A2 has roles in cell proliferation and repair mechanisms especially in response to lung injury. Its interaction with various cytokines supports tissue regeneration and homeostasis making it important in maintaining lung function.

Pathways

SCGB3A2 interacts in immune regulatory pathways significant in lung tissue. Notably it participates in pathways related to the suppression of inflammatory cytokine production and has a working relationship with proteins such as IL-10 and TGF-beta that mitigate excessive immune reactions. These interactions exhibit roles in the regulation of immune responses and the promotion of tissue repair making SCGB3A2 part of important biological processes that protect lung integrity.

SCGB3A2 is linked to conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) where inflammation plays an important role. Alterations in SCGB3A2 expression correlate with disease severity suggesting its potential as a biomarker. Its relationship with TGF-beta is of particular interest as dysregulation of this protein contributes to fibrotic changes in lung tissue. Studies continue to explore how modulating SCGB3A2 levels may influence disease progression and treatment outcomes in inflammatory lung disorders.

타겟 정보

Secreted cytokine-like protein (PubMed : 12847263). Binds to the scavenger receptor MARCO (PubMed : 12847263). Can also bind to pathogens including the Gram-positive bacterium L.monocytogenes, the Gram-negative bacterium P.aeruginosa, and yeast (PubMed : 12847263). Strongly inhibits phospholipase A2 (PLA2G1B) activity (PubMed : 24213919). Seems to have anti-inflammatory effects in respiratory epithelium (By similarity). Also has anti-fibrotic activity in lung (PubMed : 24213919). May play a role in fetal lung development and maturation (PubMed : 24213919). Promotes branching morphogenesis during early stages of lung development (PubMed : 24213919). In the pituitary, may inhibit production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) (By similarity).
