Biological function summary
TBC1D14 plays an important role in coordinating membrane trafficking pathways by interacting with different proteins involved in autophagic processes. TBC1D14 associates with the ULK1 complex which is important for initiating autophagy. Through its interactions it regulates the formation and maturation of autophagosomes which are structures that sequester and degrade cellular components. TBC1D14's function is important for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress conditions that induce autophagy.
Pathways
TBC1D14 is involved in the regulation of the autophagy and endosomal sorting pathways. It connects to the key protein ULK1 and modulates autophagy. TBC1D14 also impacts the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) pathway which is necessary for endosomal trafficking. Through these pathways TBC1D14 facilitates the coordination and function of key cellular processes ensuring proper protein and organelle turnover.
