This protein is embedded within cellular membranes and exhibits expression across various tissues though more noticeable in the central nervous system. It contains several transmembrane domains which allow it to play a role in cellular transport and communication processes within the membrane. TMEM71's expression pattern suggests a role in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
