Detection of Human TPD52L2 by Western Blot of Immunoprecipitates.

Lane 1 : Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from 293T cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies : ab194938 used for IP at 6 μg per reaction. For blotting ab194938 was used at 1 μg/ml.

Lane 2 : Control IgG.

Detection : Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 minutes.

The protein TPD52L2 also known as Tumor Protein D52-like 2 and PrLZ plays a role in intracellular transport and secretion by interacting with membranes and acting as a vesicle-associated protein. It has a molecular weight of approximately 24 kDa. TPD52L2 gets highly expressed in several tissues including pancreas prostate and hematopoietic system. Moreover TPD52L2 localizes in cytoplasm and associates with secretory granules and lysosomal membranes.

Biological function summary

TPD52L2 contributes to processes such as cell proliferation and survival. It is associated with the regulation of exocytosis because of its presence in vesicles. TPD52L2 forms part of a broader protein family with conserved coiled-coil domains suggesting a capacity for protein-protein interactions. This family can affect the organization and dynamics of the cytoskeleton which is important for cytokinesis and endocytosis.

Pathways

TPD52L2 interacts directly with cellular communication and transport pathways. It is known to participate in the tumorigenesis pathway by modulating cell growth and apoptosis.
