The protein TRAX also known as Translin-associated factor X functions mechanically as an RNA-binding protein. It plays a role in binding to specific RNA sequences and is involved in RNA transport and stability. The protein has an approximate molecular weight of 31 kDa. TRAX is expressed in various tissues including brain testis and hematopoietic tissues indicating its involvement in diverse biological processes.
Biological function summary

TRAX interacts with Translin to form a heteromeric complex that is involved in mRNA regulation. The complex participates in the regulation of neural development and synaptic plasticity by stabilizing mRNA and modulating its translation.
