추가 정보

TSPY1 also known as Testis-Specific Protein Y-Encoded is a Y-linked gene with a protein product weighing approximately 38 kDa. This protein is mainly expressed in male germ cells found in the testes. TSPY1 functions as a nucleosome assembly factor which implicates its role in chromatin remodeling and regulation of transcription. It shows specific expression in the testis indicating its role in spermatogenesis and fertility processes.
Biological function summary

TSPY1 influences cellular division and differentiation within the testes. As part of the DNA-binding protein family it associates with other proteins to impact germ cell progression. TSPY1 plays a role in the maintenance and proliferation of spermatogonial cells which are precursors to sperm cells. Its involvement here links it closely with cell cycle regulation and meiotic processes.

Pathways

TSPY1 associates with regulatory processes important for the maintenance of spermatogonial stem cells. It participates in pathways including the Wnt signaling pathway which is essential for cell growth and differentiation. TSPY1 interacts with proteins such as Cyclin B influencing the G2/M transition during cell division. This interaction highlights its importance in ensuring proper cell cycle progression and indicates its pivotal role in reproductive biology.

TSPY1 has associations with testicular germ cell tumors and infertility. Abnormal expression of TSPY1 is found in a significant number of testicular cancer cases highlighting its oncogenic potential. It connects with oncogenes such as Cyclin D2 contributing to tumor cell proliferation. Furthermore deletions or duplications of TSPY1 might relate to spermatogenic failure causing male infertility. These associations highlight the importance of TSPY1 in both normal testicular function and its relevance in pathophysiological conditions.
