It forms part of multi-protein complexes that facilitate correct DNA damage recognition and repair. XRCC6BP1 engages in interactions with proteins involved in non-homologous end joining an important DNA repair pathway. By doing this it supports cellular responses to DNA damage maintaining a correct cellular cycle.
