The osteoclast-associated receptor (OSCAR) is a cell surface receptor known for its role in osteoclastogenesis. Alternative names for OSCAR include OC-STAMP and PSL. This receptor is a type I transmembrane protein with a mass of approximately 45 kDa. It is expressed on the surface of precursor osteoclast cells and to a lesser extent certain immune cells like macrophages and dendritic cells. Its structure includes two immunoglobulin-like domains that contribute to its function in cellular signaling.
