So it is specific to LC3B not just LC3?

Thank you for contacting Abcam. I do wish to apologize for the delay in getting this information to you.
We have been in touch with the lab regarding your question of specificity of ab48394 to LC3B. As the immunogen sequence has been considered proprietary we have asked them to run alignment of this immunogen to LC3A and LC3C.This would therefore determine if the anti-LC3BNB 100-2220 is likely to cross-react with LC3Aand LC3C.
I have just received their response regarding the immunogen sequence. It has been found that there is a similarity of few amino acids. If the similarity corresponds to the epitope region, we cannot rule out the possibility of cross-reactivity.
As we cannot be confident that there is not cross reactivity with LC3A and LC3C, I would be happy to replace this product for you. We do offer another anti-LC3B product (ab63817;https://www.abcam.com/LC3B-antibody-ab63817.html)which has only a 37% homology with LC3C and 50% with LC3A.
I hope that this information is helpful and look forward to your reply. Please let me know if you have any questions or there are other ways that Abcam may help you meet your research goal.
