Function
Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. LI-cadherin may have a role in the morphological organization of liver and intestine. Involved in intestinal peptide transport. -
Tissue specificity
Expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic duct. Not detected in kidney, lung, liver, brain, adrenal gland and skin. -
Sequence similarities
Contains 7 cadherin domains. -
Cellular localization

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of Human colon carcinoma
tissue sections labeling LI Cadherin with ab183318 at 1/100 dilution (2.42 µg/ml). Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Bond™ Epitope Retrieval Solution 2 (pH 9.0) for 10mins. Goat Anti-Rabbit & Mouse IgG (HRP) was used as the secondary antibody. Hematoxylin was used as a counterstain. Membranous staining on the human colon carcinoma, performed on a Leica Biosystems BOND™ RX instrument.
The section was incubated with ab183318 for 30 mins at room temperature. -
