  • Product overview

Lipase Assay Kit II (Colorimetric) (ab102525) provides a simple, sensitive, and reliable assay for rapid analysis of Lipase activity.

In the lipase assay, Lipases hydrolyze a specific substrate to generate a product which reacts with the DTNB probe to generate color (Absorbance=412 nm). This kit is suitable for high throughput analysis (HTP).

  • Relevance

Lipases perform essential roles in the digestion, transport and processing of dietary lipids (e.g. fats and oils) in living organisms. In humans, pancreatic lipase is the key enzyme responsible for breaking down fats in the digestive system by converting triglyceride to monoglyceride and free fatty acid. Pancreatic lipase monitoring is also used to help diagnose Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis and celiac disease. Damage to the pancreas can exhibit a 5-10 fold increase of serum lipase levels within 24 to 48 hours.

    Question

    Hello,

I have a question regarding your Lipase Detection Kit II (product code ab102525) and Lipase Detection Kit III (ab118969). In order to determine if these products might be potentially useful for our application, I would need to know more about the structures of the substrates.

I understand that you can probably not release full detailed information regarding the chemical structure. I would just like to know if the substrates are triglyceride derivatives, or if they are more simple esters with only one hydrophobic fatty acid like chain.

I look forward to hearing from you.
