Magnetic Conjugation Kit (ab269890) allows antibodies to be covalently attached to high quality 500nm (0.5μm) magnetic particles quickly and easily using one-step chemistry instead of the traditional EDC/NHS ester approaches. The conjugation reaction is initiated simply by reconstituting the dry mixture with your antibody which becomes attached (via lysine residues) to the magnetic particles. It takes 30 seconds to set up the conjugation and the hands-on time for the procedure is about 3 minutes. The covalent conjugate is ready to use within 1 hour.
This product is manufactured by Expedeon, an Abcam company. It was previously called Magnetic Conjugation Kit. Expedeon product code 1300-0005 (3 reaction mini kit) is the same as the 60 µg size of this product and code 1300-0010 (10 reaction mini kit) is the same as the 200 µg size.
Magnetic conjugates with covalent attachment of antibodies are ideal for immunoprecipitation experiments and provide a more stable alternative to non-covalent attachment of antibodies using protein A or protein G resin.

25 μg and 5 μg Goat anti-rabbit antibody were added to each of two Mini vials of magnetic particles, and to 25 μL of 1% magnetic beads from a leading competitor, and processed as per the respective protocols. The conjugates were used to immunoprecipitate rabbit IgG from rabbit serum. The eluted samples were run by SDS-PAGE and analysed by Western blot against rabbit IgG. Abcam’s Magnetic Conjugation Kit has a greater binding capacity and coupling efficiency than the competitor products, and allows you to detect the antigen of interest with fewer reagents. Goat anti-rabbit antibody was conjugated to 25 μL of 1% magnetic particles from Magnetic Conjugation Kit (ab269890) (1h procedure), and to magnetic particles from a leading competitor (4h procedure) as per the respective protocols. The quantity of IgG added to the magnetic particle Abcam’s Magnetic Conjugation Kit demonstrates a considerably greater binding capacity.
Goat anti-rabbit was labeled with four different batches of magnetic beads. The conjugates were tested in parallel on a Rabbit IgG immunoprecipitation. The bound Rabbit IgG was eluted and quantified by 280nm absorbance.
