Target

  • Relevance
    Involved in the encapsidating of the genome in a ratio of 1 N per 6 ribonucleotides, resulting in the protection from nucleases. The nucleocapsid (NC) has an helical structure with either 12.35 or 11.64 N per turn, approximately 20nm in diameter, with a hollow central cavity approximately 5nm in diameter. The encapsidated genomic RNA is termed the NC and serves as template for transcription and replication. During replication, encapsidation by N is coupled to RNA synthesis and all replicative products are resistant to nucleases. N is released in the blood following lysis of measles infected cells, it interacts then with human FCGR2B on immune cells, inducing apoptosis and blocking inflammatory immune response. Ntail binds to a protein on human thymic epithelial cells, termed Nucleoprotein Receptor (NR), inducing growth arrest

Thank you for your enquiry about our Measles nucleoprotein antibodies. A nucleoprotein is defined as any of a group of complexes composed of protein and nucleic acid and found in the nuclei and cytoplasm of all living cells, as in chromatin and ribosomes, and in viruses. A nucleocapsid is a unit of viral structure, consisting of a capsid (protein coat) with the enclosed nucleic acid; some simple viruses are naked nucleocapsids, while in others the nucleocapsids form part of a more complex structure. According to the database Expasy.org (http://www.expasy.org/cgi-bin/get-entries?KW=Viral%20nucleoprotein),a viral nucleocapsid protein is a synonym of a viral nucleoprotein therefore indeed they are the same. I have looked at the datasheets of the four antibodies you are interested in and I would recommend looking in particular at the datasheets of ab9882 and ab9397 as both have been tested in WB and therefore are guaranteed to work in this application. Ab9884 also works in WB but at a lower dilution so you will need to use more antibody. Ab9885 has not been tested in WB, only in ICC so is not guaranteed to work in WB.
