Mediates cellular functions not only in skeletal and cardiac muscle development, but also in neuronal differentiation and survival. Plays diverse roles in the control of cell growth, survival and apoptosis via p38 MAPK signaling in muscle-specific and/or growth factor-related transcription. Plays a critical role in the regulation of neuronal apoptosis.

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded mouse renal cell carcinoma tissue stained for MEF2D using ab226254 at 1/200 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.
Detection: DAB staining.
MEF2D was immunoprecipitated from HeLa (human epithelial cell line from cervix adenocarcinoma) whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) with ab226254 at 6 µg/mg lysate. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab226254 at 1 µg/ml.
Lane 1: ab226254 IP in HeLa whole cell lysate.
Lane 2: Control IgG IP in HeLa whole cell lysate.
Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 3 seconds.
