  • Anti-Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 2 antibody [mG2Na-s] (ab15672) at 1 µg/ml + Brain (Rat) Tissue Lysate at 10 µg

    Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (HRP) preadsorbed (ab97040) at 1/5000 dilution

    Developed using the ECL technique.

    Performed under reducing conditions.

    Predicted band size: 104 kDa
    Observed band size: 99 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?)
    Additional bands at: 45 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.

    Exposure time: 12 minutes

    The band observed at 99 kDa could potentially be a cleaved form of Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 2 due to the presence of an 18 amino acid signal peptide. Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 2 also contains a number of potential glycosylation sites (SwissProt) which may explain the fuzzy banding pattern observed.
  • Immunohistochemical analysis of mouse cortical neurons, staining Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 2 with ab15672. Donkey anti-mouse 6-nm colloidal gold particles were used to detect staining. Images were visualized by electron microscopy.
