Customer reviews and Q&As

We have purchased your primary antibodies: ab16803 and ab71175. We read the product information in your official website, and find some suspicious places. So we need your detailed interpretation.

1. In one “Specific reference” of ab16803, TXNL6 Is a Novel Oxidative Stress-Induced Reducing System for Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase A Repair of a-Crystallin and Cytochrome C in the Eye Lens, there is one sentence in “SDS-PAGE and western blotting”: “primary anti-MsrA (Abcam) 1:2000”. But the author didn’t tell us the exact product code of it in the full text. Please inform us the exact product code and catalog number of this primary anti-MsrA antibody the author used.

2. In another “Specific reference” of ab16803, Neutrophil granulocytes uniquely express, among human blood cells, high levels of Methionine-sulfoxide-reductase enzymes, there is one sentence in “Antibodies and chemicals”: “rabbit polyclonal anti-MsrB1 (ab16804)”. But we can’t find “ab16804” in your official website. What is the reason for it?

3. In the product introduction of ab71175, https://www.abcam.com/Methionine-Sulfoxide-Reductase-B-antibody-ab71175.html, one of “Anti-Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase B antibody images”, there is a watermark “gln” in the blue image. So why is there “gln” in the blue image? Who, which research institute or which company finished this Western blot and then you quoted it? When was this Western blot image finished? Can you give us the detailed origin and paper information (title, author, Journal name, etc.) of this image?

Thank you for contacting us.

The product code of the antibody that was used in the reference listed on the ab16803 datasheet was, as far as we know, ab16803. I believe this information, which is not in the text of the paper, was given to us by one of the authors, but I will confirm.

Antibody ab16804 is no longer in our catalogue, and is no longer produced.

The watermark on the western blot image on the ab71175 datasheet is from our source of this antibody, who produced the western blot. The image has not, to our knowledge, been published in any journal. I am not able to reveal the identity of the laboratory, or the sources of any of our antibodies.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
