Relevance
Membrane frizzled-related protein, MFRP, may have a role in eye development and may be necessary for photoreceptor maintenance. Mutations of membrane-type frizzled-related protein are associated with inherited retinal degenerations including syndromic forms of microphthalmos/retinal degeneration, a rare autosomal recessive disorder of eye development characterized by extreme hyperopia and small functional eyes, posterior microphthalmia with retinitis pigmentosa, foveoschisis, and optic disk drusen. -
