FunctionRequired for maintenance of mitochondrial crista integrity and mitochondrial function. May act as a scaffolding protein that stabilizes protein complexes involved in crista architecture and protein import. Has also been shown to function as a transcription factor which binds to the BAG1 promoter and represses BAG1 transcription.
Tissue specificityDetected at low levels in brain, placenta, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas with increased levels in heart and skeletal muscle. Higher expression in primary lung cancers than in normal lung tissue.

MIC19 was immunoprecipitated from Jurkat (human T cell leukemia cell line from peripheral blood) whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) with ab240598 at 6 µg/reaction. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab240598 at 1 µg/ml.
Lane 1: ab240598 IP in Jurkat whole cell lysate.
Lane 2: Control IgG IP in Jurkat whole cell lysate.
Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 30 seconds.
