RelevanceThe large (MOCS2B) and small (MOCS2A) subunits of molybdopterin synthase are both encoded from the MOCS2 gene by overlapping open reading frames. MOCS2B is the catalytic subunit of the molybdopterin synthase complex, a complex that catalyzes the conversion of precursor Z into molybdopterin. It acts by mediating the incorporation of 2 sulfur atoms from thiocarboxylated MOCS2A into precursor Z to generate a dithiolene group.

HeLa (human epithelial cell line from cervix adenocarcinoma) cells stained for MOCS2 (green) using ab230013 at 1/100 dilution in ICC/IF, followed by Alexa Fluor 488® congugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L).
MOCS2 was immunoprecipitated from 500 µg Jurkat (human T cell leukemia cell line from peripheral blood) whole cell lysate with 4 µg of ab230013.
