    Abcam’s IGF2 Mouse ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of mouse IGF2 in cell culture supernatants.

    This assay employs an antibody specific for mouse IGF2 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IGF2 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse IGF2 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IGF2 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

    Please note that ab100696 has only been validated with cell culture supernatant samples and cannot be used with plasma samples. It is also not validated for serum samples.

    The insulin-like growth factors possess growth-promoting activity. In vitro, they are potent mitogens for cultured cells. IGF-II is influenced by placental lactogen and may play a role in fetal development.
    Preptin undergoes glucose-mediated co-secretion with insulin, and acts as physiological amplifier of glucose-mediated insulin secretion. Exhibits osteogenic properties by increasing osteoblast mitogenic activity through phosphoactivation of MAPK1 and MAPK3.
  • Involvement in disease
    Epigenetic changes of DNA hypomethylation in IGF2 are a cause of Silver-Russell syndrome (SRS) [MIM:180860]. A clinically heterogeneous condition characterized by severe intrauterine growth retardation, poor postnatal growth, craniofacial features such as a triangular shaped face and a broad forehead, body asymmetry, and a variety of minor malformations. The phenotypic expression changes during childhood and adolescence, with the facial features and asymmetry usually becoming more subtle with age.

The specificity information regarding the antibodies used in our Mouse IGFII ELISA kit can be seen below: Capture antibody: Detects mouse IGF­II in ELISAs and Western blots. In ELISAs, this antibody shows less than 6% cross­reactivity with recombinant human (rh) IGF­I R and no cross­reactivity with rhIGF­I, rmIGF­I, and rhIGF­II. In Western blots, this antibody shows 100% cross­reactivity with rhIGF­II. Detection antibody: Detects mouse IGF­II in ELISAs and Western blots. In sandwich immunoassays, less than 4% cross­reactivity with rhIGF­II is observed and less than 0.1% cross­reactivity with rhIGF­I and rmIGFBP1 is observed.
