    Question

I purchased Anti-Negative control for mouse IgG1 Ab (ab81216) to assess the effect of other blocking ab on tumor cell growth.
But, what I found was cells treated with IgG1 ab also showed retarded growth similar with blocking ab.
I am wondering if this item is not suitable for functional assay such as cell proliferation due to, for example, sodium azide or something ?

Look forward to hearing from you, soon.

    Answer

    Thank you for contacting us.

We have not heard other reports of this, but it is possible the azide in the antibody, which is present at 0.1% in the stock solution, does have an effect on the tumor growth. Confirming this would require an experiment, for instance comparing the effect of medium containing the same amount of azide to the effect of the antibody control.

Alternatively, you could remove the azide by exchanging the buffer of the stock solution. The product ab102776 will accomplish this. Here is a URL for the product:

    Answer

    Thank you for your enquiry.

Some of our antibodies are produced in-house and others are sourced from suppliers or academic collaborators whose products we believe will be of interest to our customers. All these products are guaranteed by our Abpromise to be of high quality. Our Abpromise assures you that if our products do not perform as our datasheets say they should we offer a replacement or refund within 6 monthsof purchase. Some of our collaborators are not certified ISO9001 and so we are not able to provide a certificate of analysis for these particular products.

As the identity of our collaborators is confidential, we provide a certificate of compliance for all of our products available in our catalogue. This document certifies that our products meet the required specifications for a particular lot/batch of product.

The Customer Services and Scientific Support Teams would be very pleased to send a CoC on demand. Could you please let me know if you would stilllike to receive a CoC for these two items?

Please do not hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions.
