Matched Antibody Pair kit is a titrated unlabeled capture antibody, a titrated biotin-labeled detector and a calibrated protein standard. The Matched Antibody Pair Kit can be used to quantify native and recombinant mouse IL-6R alpha. Both capture and detector antibodies are rabbit monoclonal antibodies.
Optimization of the kit reagents to sample type, immunoassay format or instrumentation may be required. Guidelines for use of this kit in a standard 96-well microplate sandwich ELISA using HRP/TMB system of colorimetric detection is described in this assay procedure for the purposes of quantification.
Additional protocol information and tip on the use of the Matched Antibody Pair kits for sandwich ELISA can be found on our website.
For additional information on the performance of the antibody pair used in this kit, please see our equivalent SimpleStep ELISA® (ab203360) which uses the same antibody pair.

FunctionPart of the receptor for interleukin 6. Binds to IL6 with low affinity, but does not transduce a signal. Signal activation necessitate an association with IL6ST. Activation may lead to the regulation of the immune response, acute-phase reactions and hematopoiesis.
Low concentration of a soluble form of IL6 receptor acts as an agonist of IL6 activity.
Tissue specificityIsoform 2 is expressed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and weakly found in urine and serum.
Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. Type 3 subfamily.
Contains 1 fibronectin type-III domain.
Contains 1 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain.
DomainThe two fibronectin type-III-like domains, contained in the N-terminal part, form together a cytokine-binding domain.
The WSXWS motif appears to be necessary for proper protein folding and thereby efficient intracellular transport and cell-surface receptor binding.
modificationsA short soluble form may also be released from the membrane by proteolysis.
Cellular localizationSecreted and Basolateral cell membrane.
