    Abcam’s Renin 1 mouse ELISA kit (ab193728) is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of mouse Renin 1 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.

    This assay employs an antibody specific for mouse Renin 1 coated on a 96 well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and the immobilized antibody captures Renin 1 present in the sample. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse Renin 1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, an HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted into the wells. After incubation, the wells are again washed, followed by the addition of a TMB substrate solution to the wells. Color develops in proportion to the amount of Renin 1 bound in each well. Addition of the Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

  • Function

    Functions as a renin and prorenin cellular receptor. May mediate renin-dependent cellular responses by activating ERK1 and ERK2. By increasing the catalytic efficiency of renin in AGT/angiotensinogen conversion to angiotensin I, it may also play a role in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS).
  • Tissue specificity

    Expressed in brain, heart, placenta, liver, kidney and pancreas. Barely detectable in lung and skeletal muscles. In the kidney cortex it is restricted to the mesangium of glomeruli. In the coronary and kidney artery it is expressed in the subendothelium, associated to smooth muscles where it colocalizes with REN. Expressed in vascular structures and by syncytiotrophoblast cells in the mature fetal placenta.
