Application Abreviews Notes
WB 1/500 - 1/3000. Predicted molecular weight: 40 kDa.
ICC/IF 1/100 - 1/200.

  • Function

E3 ubiquitin ligase. Regulates proteasomal degradation of cardiac troponin I/TNNI3 and probably of other sarcomeric-associated proteins. May play a role in striated muscle atrophy and hypertrophy by regulating an anti-hypertrophic PKC-mediated signaling pathway. May regulate the organization of myofibrils through TTN in muscle cells.
  • Tissue specificity

Muscle specific. Selectively expressed in heart and skeletal muscle. Also expressed in the iris.
  • Pathway

    Protein modification; protein ubiquitination.
  • Sequence similarities

    Contains 1 B box-type zinc finger.
    Contains 1 COS domain.
    Contains 1 RING-type zinc finger.
  • Developmental stage

    Expressed throughout all developmental stages.
  • Domain

The RING-type zinc finger mediates interaction with SUMO2 and localization to the nucleus. Also required for the E3 ubiquitin ligase activity.
  • Cellular localization

Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Localizes to the M- and Z-lines in skeletal muscle. Colocalizes with TNNI3 in myocytes.

Thank you for contacting us.
Human Protein Reference Database shows that Murf1 may be expressed in liver tissue.
Please refer to:

Also, although most references indicate that Murf1 is muscle-specific, it may still be expressed at lower levels in other tissues.
The lab has confirmed that the HeLa and HepG2 lysates used to perform WB were cells expressing Murf1 protein, not transfected lysate.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Thank you for your interest in Abcam's MuRF1 antibodies. I have performed a search of our catalog and specifically looked at ab77577 and ab96857 for suitability with swine. Unfortunately ab77577 is out of stock long term, however I agree that ab96857 would be a suitable option. ab96857 is a rabbit polyclonal antibody whose immunogen shares 100% identity with swine. The antibody would be suitable for either WB or ICC/IF. Other applications have not been tested and are therefore not guaranteed under our Abpromise (https://www.abcam.com/index.html?pageconfig=abpromise). Although we cannot guarantee reactivity, I would like to offer a testing discount off a future purchase if you buy ab96857 now, test it in swine and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn't matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody. If you are interested in this offer, please follow these steps: 1. Reply to this e-mail to let me know that you would like to proceed and test ab96857 in swine. I will then send a discount code. This code must be issued before purchasing ab96857 so please wait for my reply before ordering. 2. Purchase ab96857 either by phone, fax, or online (www.abcam.com). 3. Test it in swine. 4. Let us know the results, positive or negative, using our Abreview system (this will take about 10 minutes and images are great if you have them!). To find out how to submit an Abreview, please visit: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews. 5. After the review is submitted to us, the discount code becomes active. Simply place your new order by phone, fax, or on the web and mention the discount code. The discount can be redeemed for any primary antibodyordered and the discount code is valid for 4 months after issue. We are always pleased to obtain feedback about our products and any information is greatly appreciated! Even if ab96857 turns out to be unsuitable for swine, you will still receive the discount on your next purchase after your Abreview has been submitted.
