What effect the protein will have when injected into sheep?

Thank you for contacting us.
Streptolysin O (SLO), prototype of the cholesterol-binding family of bacterial exotoxins, forms very large pores in the plasma membrane of mammalian cells (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8593102). I am afraid injection of a large amount of streptolysin will be harmful to animals, so antigen has to be inactivated by dialyzing in 0.4%formaldehyde for 3 days at 30℃. Formalin inactivated toxin is called toxoid. The rest will be the same as ordinary antibody formation with adjuvant.
If you are interested, please let me know we might provide rabbit antiserum for this protein.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
