General notes
Cell line: A431 (Human epithelial carcinoma).
Cells were cultured in medium supplemented with 10 ng/mL EGF (epidermal growth factor) for 10 minutes at 37°C immediately prior to harvesting.
We recommend aliquoting the extracts into single use fractions and then storing.

Background
A431 cells are a positive control for EGFR as they express high levels of EGFR. They also used for cell cycle studies and can be stimulated with EGF to stimulate EGFR and are therefore a very useful model to study EGFR downstream signalling cascades eg shc, src, MAPK.
