Reproducibility is key to advancing scientific discovery and accelerating scientists’ next breakthrough.
Abcam is leading the way with our range of recombinant antibodies, knockout-validated antibodies and knockout cell lines, all of which support improved reproducibility.
We are also planning to innovate the way in which we present recommended applications and species on our product datasheets, so that only applications & species that have been tested in our own labs, our suppliers or by selected trusted collaborators are covered by our Abpromise™ guarantee.
In preparation for this, we have started to update the applications & species that this product is Abpromise guaranteed for.
We are also updating the applications & species that this product has been “predicted to work with,” however this information is not covered by our Abpromise guarantee.
Applications & species from publications and Abreviews that have not been tested in our own labs or in those of our suppliers are not covered by the Abpromise guarantee.

|WB||1/1000 - 1/3000. Predicted molecular weight: 37 kDa.|
FunctionGrowth suppressor that facilitates the entry of the cell into cell cycle arrest. Functionally similar to the retinoblastoma protein it binds to and represses the activity of cell-cycle-promoting proteins such as SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and the transcription factor E2F. Necdin also interacts with p53 and works in an additive manner to inhibit cell growth. Functions also as transcription factor and binds directly to specific guanosine-rich DNA sequences.
Tissue specificityAlmost ubiquitous. Detected in fetal brain, lung, liver and kidney; in adult heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary, small intestine and colon. Not detected in peripheral blood leukocytes. In brain, restricted to post-mitotic neurons.
Sequence similaritiesContains 1 MAGE domain.
Cellular localizationPerikaryon. Nucleus. Neural perikarya, translocates to the nucleus of postmitotic neurons and interacts with the nuclear matrix.

Anti-Necdin antibody (ab227908) at 1/3000 dilution + Mouse E16.5 embryo cerebral cortex lysate at 20 µg
Predicted band size: 37 kDa
The larger size may reflect post-translational modifications such as ubiquitination and phosphorylation at several sites.
