    • Function

      Netrins control guidance of CNS commissural axons and peripheral motor axons. Its association with either DCC or some UNC5 receptors will lead to axon attraction or repulsion, respectively. It also serve as a survival factor via its association with its receptors which prevent the initiation of apoptosis. Involved in tumorigenesis by regulating apoptosis.
    • Tissue specificity

      Widely expressed in normal adult tissues with highest levels in heart, small intestine, colon, liver and prostate. Reduced expression in brain tumors and neuroblastomas.

    • Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence analysis of HT-29 cells labelling Netrin 1 with purified ab126729 at 1/500. Cells were fixed with 100% methanol and permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100. ab150077, an Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (1/1000) was used as the secondary antibody. DAPI (blue) was used as the nuclear counterstain. ab7291, a mouse anti-tubulin (1/1000) and ab150120, an Alexa Fluor® 594-conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG (1/1000) were also used.
