We are pleased to announce that Abcam, a global leader in the supply of life science research tools, has entered into a definitive license agreement with Roche Tissue Diagnostics. Under terms of the agreement Abcam obtain the exclusive rights to the product portfolio of Spring Bioscience Corporation (“Spring”) in the research use only (“RUO”) field of use. This licensing arrangement will advance Abcam’s mission to serve life science researchers globally, increasing availability for researchers to Spring’s gold standard, highly validated antibodies and providing access to one of the largest portfolios in the research field.

We are working hard during this transition to ensure that you can continue your research without interruption. If you have any questions, please see the FAQs below.

Are the SP clones you are selling the same as the ones I bought from Spring?

Yes, the SP clones you buy from us are exactly the same as the SP clones you previously bought from Spring. We have exclusive rights to sell Spring’s products. The SP clones are made using the same technology as our recombinant rabbit monoclonal RabMAb™ antibodies. Read more about the advantages of RabMAb® antibodies on our website.

Have you changed anything in how you make and validate the products?

There have not been any changes to how the products are made or validated.

I bought a product from Spring but I cannot find it on your website. Why is that?

We are working hard to add all of Spring’s products to our catalog. There may be some instances where we are still in the process of adding specific products or sizes and hope to have these available soon.

There may be some cases where the product has been discontinued by Spring or has failed to meet our QC standards. In these cases, the product will not be added to our site and there will be no stock available to buy.

Where we do not list a product, we work hard to ensure a suitable alternative is available on our website. You can search using the Spring product code here to find your Spring product in our catalog. Please contact us if you need help finding the right product or a suitable alternative

Will the antibody still work on the DISCOVERY XT™ platform?

You can find protocols for using some the Spring antibodies on DISCOVERY XT™ on our product datasheets.

I ordered a product from Spring but have not been invoiced yet. Who will invoice me and who should I pay?

Spring will invoice you for any orders you have placed with them up to the close of business on February 20, 2018. Please continue to pay Spring in the usual way

Are there any differences between RabMAb® with clone numbers beginning with SP and RabMAb® with clone numbers beginning with EP/EPR?

The SP clones and EP/EPR clones are made using the same recombinant rabbit monoclonal technology. The SP clones are highly optimized for immunohistochemistry (IHC) (FFPE) and recommended for customers needing IHC on human samples. The EP/EPR clones are validated in a wider range of applications and species and are recommended for customers needing western blot, immunocytochemistry, or flow cytometry on human, mouse, and rat samples.

The prediluted products only say they are suitable for use in IHC but the concentrated version says it can be used in multiple applications. Can I use the prediluted antibody in western blot?

We recommend using the concentrated version for western blot. All the species and applications we are aware of that an antibody has been tested in will be stated on the datasheet. These are updated as soon as we receive any new information.

If you decide to purchase a product for use in an untested application or species, we encourage you to submit an Abreview via the online product datasheet. We always encourage customers to send their results back to us, whether positive or negative, as we make all product information available to researchers. We reward each published Abreview with Abpoints, which can be used for discounts off future purchases or other rewards.

Can I get a 10 µL size of any of the products you are now listing from Spring?

We do not offer trial samples of our products. We do offer 10 µL samples for some of our Rabbit monoclonal antibodies and we hope to extend this to cover the SP clones in the future. Please contact us if you would like more information.

Are you able to provide the immunogen sequence for this antibody?

For some of our antibodies, the immunogen sequence is not readily available on the datasheet. We invest a lot of time and effort into selecting immunogen sequences to deliver the most effective antibodies. We sometimes decide to protect this information by giving the immunogen sequence on request to individual customers only. This will be noted on the datasheet by the following link “Read Abcam's proprietary immunogen policy”. If you require the sequence for your experiments, then please contact our Scientific Support team. For some externally-sourced products, the immunogen sequence is proprietary information and we are unable to release this information, even on request.

Please note that the specific epitope (the antibody binding region within the immunogen) will very rarely have been mapped for commercially available antibodies.

Can I get a certificate of analysis, a certificate of compliance, or an SDS for a batch of product I bought from Spring?

Please contact us if you would like to receive any documentation about a batch of a product you bought from Spring

I bought a product from Spring and I am about to publish a paper. Should I reference that the product is from Spring or from Abcam in my paper?

Congratulations on submitting your paper. Please reference the clone that is available from Abcam. We will not be changing the clone names.

    Testimonials

Anti-estrogen receptor rabbit monoclonal antibodies (SP1 and SP2 clones) provide “high sensitivity and specificity of the reaction, stronger immunostaining, shorter procedures times, and avoidance of antigenic retrieval methods.”

    Cano, G. et al. Diagn. Cytopathol. 29, 207–211 (2003)

The anti-estrogen receptor rabbit monoclonal antibody (EP1 clone) “can result in better interpretation of the results of the ER analysis.”
