FunctionRecognizes and binds the palindromic sequence 5'-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3' present in viral and cellular promoters and in the origin of replication of adenovirus type 2. These proteins are individually capable of activating transcription and replication.

Immunohistochemistry (Free Floating) analysis of adult mouse (wild type and NFix/CTF+/-) coronal brain tissue. Sections were blocked for 2 hours with serum before incubation overnight with ab101341 (1/1000 in blocking buffer). Sections were then incubated with a biotin-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (1/1,000) secondary antibody for 1 hour. The reaction was visualised by incubating the sections in avidin-biotin complex for 1 hour, followed by a nickel-DAB solution, and was terminated by washing multiple times in phosphate buffered saline when a dark precipitate had formed. Sections were then mounted onto slides, dehydrated and imaged.
In adult wild-type mice (G), NFIX/CTF was most strongly expressed by cells in the SGZ of the dentate gyrus (arrowheads in G’). The same expression pattern was observed in Nfix/CTF+/− mice, although the level of NFIX/CTF expression was much lower than in wild-type mice at all ages. G’ and H’ are magnified views of the boxed regions in G and H respectively.
