Also functions as a voltage-gated proton channel that mediates the H(+) currents of resting phagocytes. It participates in the regulation of cellular pH and is blocked by zinc.

Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin embedded Human Spleen tissue labeling NOX2/gp91phox with ab106940 at 2 ug/ml. Tissue underwent antigen retrieval in steam with citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The HRP-staining procedure was used for detection.
