  • Function
    This multifunctional protein catalyzes the formation, breakage and rearrangement of disulfide bonds. At the cell surface, seems to act as a reductase that cleaves disulfide bonds of proteins attached to the cell. May therefore cause structural modifications of exofacial proteins. Inside the cell, seems to form/rearrange disulfide bonds of nascent proteins. At high concentrations, functions as a chaperone that inhibits aggregation of misfolded proteins. At low concentrations, facilitates aggregation (anti-chaperone activity). May be involved with other chaperones in the structural modification of the TG precursor in hormone biogenesis. Also acts a structural subunit of various enzymes such as prolyl 4-hydroxylase and microsomal triacylglycerol transfer protein MTTP.

Localizes near CD4-enriched regions on lymphoid cell surfaces. Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV.

Regrettably, we will not be able to guarantee the anti PDI antibodies cross reactivity towards P. pastoris species. The sequence analysis of ab30319 shows only 45% homology which is very less for antibody cross reactivity. I apologies for any inconvenience.

 Dear technical support team: This customer has already purchased ab30319 (Anti-PDI antibody [PDI-38H8] - ER Marker), and after he conducted IHC with Saccharomyces cerevisiae sample, the result shows no signal, therefore he wants to ask for you help to offer any suggestion to him, and his experiment step as follow:   1) Order details: ˙Batch number ( Lot number): GR57411-1 .po: 952354 ˙ Abcam product code: ab30319   ˙ Antibody storage conditions (temperature/reconstitution etc) : -20℃ or 4℃for short time (no dilution) 2) Please describe the problem (high background, non-specific signal…etc).
