Target

  • Function

Ligand-activated transcription factor. Key regulator of lipid metabolism. Activated by the endogenous ligand 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphocholine (16:0/18:1-GPC). Activated by oleylethanolamide, a naturally occurring lipid that regulates satiety (By similarity). Receptor for peroxisome proliferators such as hypolipidemic drugs and fatty acids. Regulates the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway of fatty acids. Functions as transcription activator for the ACOX1 and P450 genes. Transactivation activity requires heterodimerization with RXRA and is antagonized by NR2C2.
  • Tissue specificity

Skeletal muscle, liver, heart and kidney.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family. NR1 subfamily.
Contains 1 nuclear receptor DNA-binding domain.
  • Cellular localization

    Nucleus.
  • Target information above from: UniProt accession Q07869 The UniProt Consortium

    ChIP - Anti-PPAR alpha antibody - ChIP Grade (ab227074)

Cross-linked ChIP was performed with HepG2 (human liver hepatocellular carcinoma cell line) chromatin extract and 5 μg of either control rabbit IgG or ab227074. The precipitated DNA was detected by PCR with primer set targeting to C3 promotor or NOD1 gene.

  • Immunoprecipitation - Anti-PPAR alpha antibody - ChIP Grade (ab227074)
    Immunoprecipitation - Anti-PPAR alpha antibody - ChIP Grade (ab227074)

PPAR alpha was immunoprecipitated from HepG2 (human liver hepatocellular carcinoma cell line) whole cell extract with ab227074 at 1/100 dilution. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab227074 at 1/1000 dilution.
