    Overview

    • Product name

      ECL Western Blotting Substrate Kit
    • Product overview

The ECL Western Blotting Substrate is a highly sensitive, nonradioactive, enhanced luminol-based chemiluminescent substrate for easy detection of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) on immunoblots. The ECL Western Blotting Substrate offers superior signal and clear background. Blots can be repeatedly exposed to X-ray film to obtain optimal results or stripped of the immunodetection reagents and re-probed.

Our ECL kits include this kit ab65623 and our high sensitivity ECL substrate kits:
      - High Sensitivity ECL Substrate Kit ab133406 to detect 23pg-187ng of protein per band
      - Very High Sensitivity ECL Substrate Kit ab133408 to detect 4.6pg-4.7ng of protein per band
      - Ultra High Sensitivity ECL Substrate Kit ab133409 to detect 1.2pg-2ng of protein per band

Detection ranges in pg and ng stated above should be used for guidance only as detection range is dependent on the molecular weight of a protein.

I love this product. It works super in many of my western blots, it carries a very low background and strong signals. It started to work 30 seconds after adding to the membrane. Even when I had to delay the exposure for about 30min, the signals are still very strong. Its catalog number was ab65628, don't know why abcam changed it to ab65623, but the price stays the same.

    Answer

We have not specifically tested this Anti-CD9 antibody [EPR2949] (ab92726) as a marker of urinary exosomes but I can confirm that it can be used in western blot on mouse, rat, and human samples. Additionally, I have done a Google search and found that CD9 is indeed an exosome marker therefore it can be used as you mentioned. For more details about CD9 please see the publication below.

If you are also looking for a second antibody and detection reagents to go with this ab92726, here are some recommendation.

    Question

    Do you happen to have a product insert for this product? I have emailed the customer the protocol but they would like to know;

If you can get me the product insert so I can check, for example, the area of blots that can be done by this product (50 tests doesn’t really tell me enough),

Any info you can provide would be much appreciated J

    Kind regards,

    Asked on Feb 22 2012

    Answer

    Thank you for your enquiry.

ab65623 is a good choice for developing western blots which use HRP conjugated secondary antibodies.

Did your customer want one antibody that would react with the Fc region of IgA, IgG and IgM or did they want 3 antibodies, one of which would react with IgA, one that would react with IgG and one that would react with IgM?

I checked our catalog and we do have one antibody, https://www.abcam.com/Goat-polyclonal-Secondary-Antibody-to-Human-IgG-IgM-IgA-H-L-HRP-ab102420.htmlthat will react with humanIgA, IgG and IgM but it is not specific for the Fc portion.

I hope this helps. I'll be happy to answer any further questions.
