Question

We are customers of abcam antibody products. We recently purchased ABCAM CN:ab18445 200ug (0.5mg/mL) Rat IgG2a-Biotin LN: GR76161-2

And ABCAM CN:ab37394 200ug (0.5mg/mL) Goat F(ab')2 IgG-Fitc LN: GR41305-1.

On 28Nov12 we had a temperature excursion on our 2-8c Refrigerator which recorded -20c for 4 hrs. We use this product to test all our final products. So we have a Deviation to record and to justify the antibody performance.

Could you please provide any information on the stability of the product after freeze and thaw. I would greatly appreciate of any information.

Answer

Thank you for contacting us.

We do not have any stability testing data for either of these antibodies. In general, it is recommended to avoid freezing either of these antibodies but it is expected that a single freeze-thaw cycle will not affect the performance of either antibody. Please note that the lot of ab37394 that you have expired in August. (Our records show it was purchased in June 2011). It is possible it may still perform adequately, however. The lot of ab18445 that you have, GR76161-2, expires in May 2013.

Please contact us if you have any more questions.
