Target

  • Relevance

Desmocollin 1 is a component of intercellular desmosome junctions. It is involved in the interaction of plaque proteins and intermediate filaments mediating cell-cell adhesion. It may contribute to epidermal cell positioning (stratification) by mediating differential adhesiveness between cells that express different isoforms. Desmocollin 1 is linked to the keratinization of epithelial tissues.
  • Cellular localization

Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Cell junction; desmosome.
