Relevance
GDF 9 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. Growth factors synthesized by ovarian somatic cells directly affect oocyte growth and function. GDF 9 is expressed in oocytes and is thought to be required for ovarian folliculogenesis. -

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-GDF 9 antibody [EPR22495-129] (ab254323)
Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded human ovary tissue labeling GDF 9 with ab254323 at 1/500 dilution, followed by ready to use Rabbit specific IHC polymer detection kit HRP/DAB (ab209101). Positive staining on human ovarian follicles (PMID: 21401961). The section was incubated with ab254323 for 30 mins at RT. The immunostaining was performed on a Leica Biosystems BOND® RX instrument. Counterstained with hematoxylin.
Secondary antibody only control: Used PBS instead of primary antibody, secondary antibody is ready to use Rabbit specific IHC polymer detection kit HRP/DAB (ab209101).
Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0, epitope retrieval solution 2) for 20 mins.
