Target
-
Function
Essential transmembrane GTPase, which mediates mitochondrial fusion. Fusion of mitochondria occurs in many cell types and constitutes an important step in mitochondria morphology, which is balanced between fusion and fission. MFN1 acts independently of the cytoskeleton. Overexpression induces the formation of mitochondrial networks. -
Tissue specificity
Ubiquitous. Expressed at slightly higher level in kidney and heart. Isoform 2 may be overexpressed in some tumors, such as lung cancers. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the mitofusin family. -
Post-translational
modificationsUbiquitinated by MARCH5. -
Cellular localization
Cytoplasm and Mitochondrion outer membrane. - Information by UniProt

HRP Anti-Mitofusin 1 antibody [11E91H12] (ab198410) at 1/5000 dilution + NIH 3T3 (Mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line) Whole Cell Lysate at 40 µg
Developed using the ECL technique.
Performed under reducing conditions.
Predicted band size: 84 kDa
Observed band size: 84 kDa
Exposure time: 20 minutesThis blot was produced using a 4-12% Bis-tris gel under the MOPS buffer system. The gel was run at 200V for 50 minutes before being transferred onto a Nitrocellulose membrane at 30V for 70 minutes. The membrane was then blocked for an hour using 3% milk before being incubated with ab198410 overnight at 4°C. Antibody binding was visualised using ECL development solution ab133406.
