Target

  • Function

Essential transmembrane GTPase, which mediates mitochondrial fusion. Fusion of mitochondria occurs in many cell types and constitutes an important step in mitochondria morphology, which is balanced between fusion and fission. MFN1 acts independently of the cytoskeleton. Overexpression induces the formation of mitochondrial networks.
  • Tissue specificity

Ubiquitous. Expressed at slightly higher level in kidney and heart. Isoform 2 may be overexpressed in some tumors, such as lung cancers.
  • Sequence similarities

    Belongs to the mitofusin family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

    Ubiquitinated by MARCH5.
  • Cellular localization

    Cytoplasm and Mitochondrion outer membrane.

Has this antibody been tested in Western blot at concentrations other than 5 ug/mL?

    Answer

Ab126575 has only been tested in WB at a concentration of 5 ug/mL. With samples that have high levels of Mfn1 it is quite possible that a more dilute antibody solution will be fine to use, but we would recommend starting with the 5 ug/mL before trying less.
