Target

  • Function

Does not have alcohol dehydrogenase activity. Binds NADP and acts through a one-electron transfer process. Orthoquinones, such as 1,2-naphthoquinone or 9,10-phenanthrenequinone, are the best substrates (in vitro). May act in the detoxification of xenobiotics. Interacts with (AU)-rich elements (ARE) in the 3'-UTR of target mRNA species. Enhances the stability of mRNA coding for BCL2. NADPH binding interferes with mRNA binding.
  • Tissue specificity

Only very low amounts in the lens.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family. Quinone oxidoreductase subfamily.
  • Cellular localization

    Cytoplasm.

      Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anti-Quinone oxidoreductase antibody [2A9DD1] (ab110310)

Immunocytochemistry analysis using ab110310 at 2µg/ml staining Quinone oxidoreductase in HELa cells (4% paraformaldehyde fixed and 0.1% Triton X-100 permeabilized) followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 goat anti-mouse IgG (H+L) used at a 1/1000 dilution for 1 hour (green).

      Immunoprecipitation - Anti-Quinone oxidoreductase antibody [2A9DD1] (ab110310)

Using MitoSciences' standard immunoprecipitation protocol, ab110310 precipitates the 35kDa Quinone oxidoreductase protein from human liver and HepG2 lysate. Identity of this protein was confirmed by mass spectrometry. This gel was stained with silver nitrate.
