Function
This is a receptor for VIP as well as PACAP-38 and -27, the activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. Can be coupled to phospholipase C. -
Tissue specificity
Expressed in CD4+ T-cells, but not in CD8+ T-cells. Expressed in the T-cell lines Jurkat, PEER, MOLT-4, HSB, YT and Tsup-1, but not in the T-cell lines HARRIS and HUT 78. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. -
Cellular localization

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-VPAC2 antibody [SP235] (ab183334)Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of Rat spleen tissue sections labeling VPAC2 with ab183334 at 1/100 dilution (0.96 µg/ml). Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed Heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0, epitope retrieval solution 1) for 20 mins. Rabbit specific IHC polymer detection kit HRP/DAB (ab209101) was used as the secondary antibody. Negative control: PBS instead of the primary antibody. Hematoxylin was used as a counterstain.

Flow Cytometry analysis of Jurkat (Human T cell leukemia T lymphocyte) cells labeling VPAC2 with purified ab183334 at 1/20 dilution (5 µg/ml) (red). Cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde and permeabilised with 90% methanol. A Goat anti rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, ab150077) secondary antibody was used at 1/2000 dilution. Isotype control - Rabbit monoclonal IgG (ab172730) / Black. Unlabeled control - Unlabelled cells / blue.
